National Barley Improvement Committee

The National Barley Improvement Committee (NBIC) is a coalition representing the entire US barley industry: growers, users, and researchers. The NBIC's major purpose is to be an advisor/advocate regarding how federal barley research funding is directed. The NBIC communicates with USDA and Congress on the importance of the barley industry and its research needs. AMBA administers the NBIC and directs its lobbying efforts.

Over the past few years, the NBIC, with AMBA's assistance, has been very successful in enhancing base funding at various USDA-ARS locations and in obtaining increased funding for federal barley research programs, including the US Barley Genome Project and National Wheat & Barley Scab Initiative.
